Narrator: So, Adam, A1 Foundation Crack Repair is known for stopping basement water, but the story you're sharing today demonstrates that your techniques can work outside of the foundation and basement realm. Am I right?
Adam: Yeah. This is an interesting case. We don't get a call very often to waterproof a pool. And it wouldn't be a pool that you get at Costco or a big box store—an inflatable pool. This is a Gunite concrete pool, and the customer had called us up. They had used us in the past for other foundation repairs and said, "Geez, I'm losing dozens of gallons of water a day. We've hunted it down. There's a large crack in the corner of this pool. What can you guys do?"
They had tried different techniques. They'd had different pool companies come out, and they hadn't been able to resolve the issue. So, we worked with them a little bit and tried to figure out what kind of situation they had, what issues were presented, and the schematics of the pool, because it wasn't that old.
We found that we could use a special waterproofing compound that we don't use very often, but in this particular environment we were able to use it because of the chemical structure of the pool, the chlorine, and all of that. We also used carbon fiber to reinforce that corner of the pool.
It's a very similar application to what we're doing in normal crack repairs for basement waterproofing, but the difference is that we want to keep the water in the pool, not stop water from coming through the concrete wall. So instead of allowing it to come into the basement, we're trying to keep it all on the other side. Same idea—just reverse thinking.
In this particular case, we were able to basically treat it like a normal foundation crack, just using specialty materials that we don't typically use in basements. It worked great. We were able to paint right over it and blend it right into the background.
They filled that pool back up and didn't lose any water. The customer was extremely happy, especially during the 90-degree days that we're experiencing right now. The family was thrilled to be able to use their pool instead of just letting the hose and sprinkler run in the front yard.
So, it was a unique application—something that we don't typically see every day—but a past customer reached out to us, and we were able to resolve the problem without any issues.
